California Thrasher(Toxostoma redivivum) The California Thrasher is one of the greater mimickers and can be heard during its mating season singing a long litany songs. So, its probably not a big surprise that it shares the same family as the Mockingbird. Otherwise undistinguished in features, the California Thrasher has an unusual downward curved beak. Since its short wings make it an unaccomplished flyer, one will generally see it on the ground making quick forays from the scrub to get food. It tends to be fairly shy and can be seen around the Lodge and parking lots. |
